About M (she/her/hers)

Marie Shanley, aka Mxiety, has been advocating for open mental health dialogue and reviewing resources since 2017. She is a speaker, writer, editor, and consultant sharing her experiences through her content to promote vulnerability, self-kindness, and empathy towards others.

Her goal in her work, especially her live show, is to use her personal experience living with Depression, Anxiety, and ADHD as well as being part of the LGBTQ community to encourage self-acceptance. By sharing her story of recovery, she hopes to help others think beyond what they expect emotional health to mean.

She’s most passionate about making mental health resources open and available (creating events to raise funds for non-profits providing therapy scholarships and information), reducing stigma, gaming and pop culture.

Her work has been featured by To Write Love On Her Arms, The Mighty, Take This, Tiny Buddha, and more. Her debut book, a collection of essays entitled "Well That Explains It," was published in 2019.
